REVIEW: Espresso Warriors

Hangry Warriors

Hungover Burger

Where the infamous "What the Fudge" a popular dessert/cafe joint in Canley Heights use to be. Recently replaced by Espresso Warriors with new renovations but same cafe style restaurant surely caught my eye! Definitely had high expectations for this restaurant walking in.

Service was great, immediately greeted at the door and seated. The worker introduced us to the menu which I thought was a great idea being a new joint its important to I guess you can say "advertise" what they have to offer. After reading the menu for a few minutes we decided on two breakfast dishes:

HANGRY WARRIOR $22: Two eggs, crispy bacon, avocado, mushroom, house hash browns, grilled tomato, wilted spinach and grilled chorizo with crusty sourdough and tomato relish (I also added Haloumi)

HANGOVER BURGER $12: Crispy bacon, fried egg, a golden hash brown, tasty cheese, tomato relish and creamy aioli on a toasted milk bun (added avocado for $3)

So to start off pricing was okay for some dishes and a little overpriced on others. The hungry warriors was what I had, a lover of sangria style breakfasts so everywhere I go I always get the "big breakfast". When the dish was brought out presentation was okay, could've been plated up better (it might have been because I asked them to not include the sourdough so it looked plain nonetheless), the scrambled eggs were overcooked; more fried than scrambled.. bacon was dry and definitely not crispy could've done with some more oil, house hash browns were alright, not my preferred style of hash browns but good job to them for trying to change up the traditional item. The rest were fairly basic you can't really go wrong with cooking mushroom, grilled tomato and spinach. Although they could have been better with some extra salt and pepper. The highlight of the dish was the extra Haloumi, perfectly cooked.

The hangover burger so i've been told was nice and something they would re-order. The soft egg, cheese and milk bun was enough to make the burger. They would give the burger a 7/10 rating. Would recommend.

We both had ordered the freshly squeezed orange juices which was really nice! Tasted fresh, not too sweet nor too sour. It was the perfect orange juice to go with any breakfast meal!

Overall my personal experience here wasn't too bad, Although the dish I had ordered wasn't the best but because of the great service and wide variety of options that I still haven't tried such as the lunch menu, I would definitely come back to give this new place another shot. In my opinion service is such an important aspect when running a business and this restaurant definitely see's that too which I can appreciate. Will update y
ou guys further when I come back to try the lunch menu!

xx Julie
